ETF Strategist
An ETF strategist is an investment manager who constructs portfolios using exchange-traded funds as the primary investment vehicle. ETF strategists apply their investment process and risk management discipline at the asset allocation level — determining which ETFs to hold, in what proportions, and when to adjust those allocations — while using ETFs to efficiently access the underlying market exposures within each allocation.
See also: ETF Investment Strategists for a broader treatment of the ETF strategist model and how to evaluate these managers.
The ETF strategist model has grown significantly because it combines active management at the portfolio construction level with the cost efficiency, liquidity, and tax advantages of passive ETF vehicles. Investors benefit from professional risk management and tactical expertise without paying the premium associated with traditional active funds that add security selection costs on top of allocation costs.
Shell Capital’s Global Tactical Rotation® strategy is implemented as an ETF strategist approach: systematically selecting among global asset class ETFs based on momentum and risk signals, and managing portfolio risk through dynamic allocation adjustments as market conditions evolve.
